Update: SINGLE SPEED. An everything-old-is-new-again approach to cycling in which all the gears we've fought so hard for over the years are eschewed for -- wait for it -- a single speed. When combined with the fixed-gear option (no freewheeling allowed), said to wed cyclist to the road like no other natural relationship, but do not under any circumstances remove feet from pedals while going downhill or divorce a la the 'eggbeater effect' can get ugly.
